Yanking back the steering wheel

“I must honestly admit that I am not even able to control my own thoughts, words and actions.” (ODAT, 8 April)

Now, of course I do not believe the writer means that they are an automaton, thought through, spoken through, and acted through by another force.

What is the case is that sometimes I am indeed through, spoken, and acted through by another force.

That’s what happens if I’m not paying attention.

Paying attention takes care of 95% of the thinking, speaking, and acting.

There’s a stubborn 5% that persists in the wrong groove even with awareness.

What God does is allow a sufficient pause to be introduced to kill the actuating energy.

This allows another thought, word, or action to be chosen.
