Gap

“Very gradually, in Al-Anon, we come to see the inner meaning of its spiritual teachings. Many of them we have known from childhood, from parental guidance and religious training. Yet we find there has been a wide gap between what we learned and how we apply it to our daily living.” (ODAT, 21 April)

I don’t need to go looking for subtle spiritual insights or special spiritual paths.

The ordinary challenges are enough.

What are these?

Stop interfering.

Stop fretting.

Stop thinking about other people.

Do what I’m supposed to do.

Be more cheerful.

This is done by doing it directly.

Not by doing something spiritual in the hope that the spiritual thing will do the job for me.

There is no mystery.

If I’m not applying the ideas, I’m not applying them.

The answer is simple: apply them.
