Triviality

“my house was never in order; meals were a bother. I wasn’t doing my job!” (ODAT, 19 November)

Sometimes I don’t know what to do with myself or my life, or I get tied up in what I think are higher level activities, and all sorts of what I think are lower level activities are neglected.

I’ve found that attending to the apparently trivial matters of everyday life, diligently, on or ahead of time, fully, and without balking or delay, creates a stable environment for myself and the people around me.

That gives me the mental space to better discern God’s will and better attend to whatever substantive activities He has in mind for me.
