Part of my Al-Anonism is getting hot under the collar. I’m best off keeping out of anything controversial or entangled, with lots of ‘psychology’ going on. I’m free to engage, and I have engaged in the past, but it’s also a privilege not to. I’ve learned how to engage without getting hot under the collar, but sometimes the best way to handle defects is to landscape around them rather than force oneself to act like someone with an entirely different temperament. Better, arguably, to work with not against one’s nature.
