“If I am challenged by an angry person, I will respond quietly or not at all.” (ODAT, 11 September

This solves the question once and for all of how to deal with difficult people and difficult situations: respond quietly or not at all.

When I catch myself responding loudly once, well, that’s a mistake.

If it happens twice, such a response has become part of my permitted algorithm, and that needs to stop.

Sometimes I discover that every single interaction with a person results in my blood pressure rising.

Then, it’s usually best to avoid interacting with them at all. Find someone else to interact with. Learn the lessons with someone more low-key before progressing to the advanced class.
