(Self-)love and marriage (horse and carriage)

“Before we begin, we ask God to direct our thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self-pity, dishonest or self-seeking motives.” (Page 86, Big Book)

Self-pity: upset that I have not got my way.

Self-seeking motives: wanting to get my own way.

Dishonest motives: concealing the fact I want to get my own way.

All three are about my way.

Divorce implies I was married.

Each day I remarry my own way.

Each morning I must be divorced anew.
