Inside out

“the monumental task of setting our world in order through a change in our own thinking” (ODAT, 23 May)

Changing the outside without changing the inside creates a tension between the two, and eventually there’ll be a snap.

I only ever need to change my consciousness. When that consciousness is changed, the right action becomes obvious, automatic, and easy. The thought moves the arm, and the arm obeys.

When you hear someone talking about ‘making an effort’ in recovery, that means that they’re trying to change their action without changing their consciousness. The effort will fail.
