This is what is happening when I'm running on (a) emotion or (b) impulse.
Operating a decent programme involves applying a lot more than just these to deciding what to do and what not to.
For instance, one can instinctively resist helping others, or one can impulsively do what others ask, regardless of the merits of the request.
Merit is involved. Impulse is involved. But also involved are:
- Intelligence
- Common sense
- Knowledge
- Experience
- Consultation
- Principles
- Prayer
- Meditation
- Pausing
- Waiting
- Researching
- Asking God
- Reading programme literature
- Reading spiritual literature
This is how one gradually develops a deliberate, thinking life that has God in charge.
