Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is not anonymous. It has a website called Alcoholics Anonymous. Alcoholics Anonymous is its name.

Its members are the ones who are anonymous.

There's no pointing in joining an organisation of anonymous people and then wanting to have a name.

Make your mind up.

You want a name or you want to be anonymous?

You want to be anonymous?

Fine. That means you can't have a name.

That's what anonymous means: having no name.

It's no good having a name anywhere (inside AA or outside AA) and wanting to be anonymous.

You can't have your cake and eat it.

There might be a thing walking round in the world with the old name I gave up.

Let it do its thing.

But I gave up two things already, a long time ago:

(1) My name, by joining AA.

(2) My life, by taking Step Three.

If you've still got your own name, you haven't joined AA.

If you've still got your own life, you haven't taken Step Three.

What's left if you give up your own name and your own life?

Well, if you do both, you'll find out.
