The cabbage is smarter than me

It is a spiritual axiom that every time we are disturbed, no matter what the cause, there is something wrong with us. If somebody hurts us and we are sore, we are in the wrong also. (Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions)

Whenever I'm disturbed, I'm literally disturbing myself: there is a natural order that I am interfering with.

I remember seeing a cabbage and thinking: If you shout at that cabbage, it won't feel anything. Yet if you shout at me, I feel bad. The bad feeling is coming from me not the shouting.

All I'm doing by affirming peace is re-stating and thereby re-establishing the status quo ante before I interfered.
