Bricks

Imagine you're a number of bricks.

Now imagine you want to build something. You build a little here, a little there. All you end up with is a scattered collection of low buildings.

Now imagine you place the bricks, one on another, in a tall tower.

That tower will reach up to God.

I let my mind get involved in the world, in the area in which I live, in the block in which I live, in the domains I work in, in the business of the people around me, and—worst of all—in myself: in 'my' life, in 'my' ambitions, in 'my' security, in 'my' worth.

This is like building haphazardly in all sorts of different places where no building is even required.

Rather, my task is to focus only on God and what I can do for God. Nothing else is required and nothing else is desirable.
