Chairing / hosting meetings

Some basic tips on chairing / hosting meetings:

- Read the script a number of times before the meeting

- Perform a mental walkthrough, and see if any questions arise

- Resolve those questions with the group, other chairs / hosts, etc.

- Show up / log on plenty of time in advance

- Have all the required materials to hand plenty of time in advance

- Have the speaker well prepared on the group's ethos and the topic

- Once the meeting starts, read the script slowly and clearly

- Don't add to, remove from, or change the script or format

- Don't ad lib or provide a running commentary

- If the format allows you to share, take your turn like everyone else

- Don't share back after each sharer (unless the script tells you to)

- The chair or host is the frame not the picture

- Quietly, competently, and discreetly perform your service

- Let everyone else shine
