As soon as I stipulate the 'necessity' of any pain or suffering, I'm committed to it, and I will resist any alternative view.
The real question, and the question that so often goes unanswered, is 'Why do I so stoutly defend my pain, my right to it, the necessity of it, the unavoidability of it?'
Because to get rid of my pain, I have get rid of my value system.
And locked into my value system is my identity, and my identity I don't want to give up.
Whilst there is an 'I', there is going to be pain.
To get rid of the pain, get rid of the 'I'.
