How do you deal with the following in an interaction with someone?
- Dishonesty, shifting sands, and flooding (the story told is incomplete and internally inconsistent, changes over the course of the discourse, and is obscured by large quantities of irrelevant detail),
- Incoherence (non-sequiturs, the story and the discourse do not proceed logically and systematically),
- Non-cooperation (one's own contributions are ignored, circumvented, attacked, deflected, or otherwise blocked from incorporation into the discourse),
- Manipulation (guilt-tripping and other methods of exerting pressure),
- False apology (saying sorry for things that are not the case or were not the person's responsibility, in order to deflect attention from the actual behaviour that requires admission of responsibility),
- Overriding (refusing to acknowledge an offer or a position presented, instead persisting in attempts to impose a different outcome).
Answer:
You can't.
