Imagine: There is a universe. In the universe there is a planet. On the planet there is a theatre. In the theatre there is a play going on. People's attention is on the play, whether as actor or audience. But the play is not reality. Reality is what is going on in the theatre, on the planet, in the universe.
My material life is important in the way that the play is important in the theatre. I have a job to do, and my job is to do my job well. It is where the acting takes place. But the play is not reality.
What matters is the people in the universe, not the characters in the play.
