Shooting yourself in the foot

Here's how I used to shoot myself in the foot:

- Cynicism about the fellowship, the programme, or the people in it
- Hostility towards sponsors, sponsees, group members, and other fellows
- Case-building against any aspect of recovery: principles, people, and groups
- Chopping and changing sponsors, meetings, methods, and fellowships
- Touchiness, sensitivity, and self-justification
- Wilfulness, unwillingness, and resistance
- Defending defects with diagnostic labels.

Instead, I've learned to trust and to follow direction. This works.
