The very obvious point is that nothing is God but God.
So it’s not hard to figure out what not to worship.
Anything but God.
Nothing is secure. Nothing is guaranteed. Everything will crumble. It’s a question only of time.
Sure, often to be replaced. But sometimes not.
There is nothing reliable in the material world.
There is no one entirely reliable in the material world.
So put your weight on the slat of the bridge but don’t let go of the handrail (= God).
Seeking an endless stream of decreasingly thrilling thrills, comforts, or oblivions does not work either.
The only thing worth going for, frankly, is transcendent peace.
