How to resist what someone is saying

There are four ways to resist what someone is saying.

The obvious, rookie way is to resist it.

The second, less obvious way is to ask questions about it.

The third, subtle way is to reply.

As soon as I've replied, I've hit the ball back out of my side of the court.

The fourth is to agree with it.

As soon as I've agreed with it, I've sewn it up and shelved it.

To let an idea act on me, I must do none of the above.
