It's important to remember that the Al-Anon programme is a treatment for insanity.
Ever have a material, practical problem in the world?
A problem with a computer, a heating system, a missing delivery?
Ever been frustrated, gone into control mode, fixed it and fixed it till it's really broken?
Even gone into catastrophisation, grumbling dread, morbidity, and faux-spiritual resignation to the general awfulness of things?
Well, that's called Reacting To The World Like The World Is An Alcoholic.
And it's completely insane.
The world cannot be controlled. Not should it be.
The only reason the world ever affects me is because I'm trying to control it and cannot.
Consequently, I shift my sense of unease and dis-ease onto the world.
Because now it's the the world's fault, apparently.
The alcoholic was always the perfect distraction vehicle, precisely because the chances they'll ever be fixed are minimal.
What is the unease, the dis-ease, the disease?
Falling for the optical illusion that I exist as a separate being.
