Denial can take many forms. Sometimes, there is simply outright denial of the truth. Other times, it is more subtle. Rather than simply admitting where I am wrong, I avoid full, clear, and simple responsibility by:
- Brushing under the carpet
- Evading discussion
- Contextualising
- Relativising
- Minimising
- Blaming the person for eliciting my conduct
- Blaming the person for their reaction to my conduct
These patterns do not help.
