Tolerance in meetings

People (including me) are (at times) unusual and misbehaved.

Why should I be tolerant?

Well, it makes life more comfortable, for one thing.

Why is this justifiable?

Well, we're all here because we're not all there. If we were naturally serene, pleasant, well-adjusted, and functional, we wouldn't need recovery. Some people in recovery are these things, but they need to maintain that status: it won't happen by itself. Everyone else is on a journey. So, if I recognise I'm on a journey, I have to recognise that they are too.

With the programme, I accept everything lock, stock, and barrel.

With other people in AA: if what they say helps, I use it. If it does not, I ignore it.
