A 30-second meditation

I imagine myself in my life.

Then I freeze the picture.

I imagine the me that is playing roles in the world frozen.

Then I imagine the actual me, the real me, drawing back from that frozen image, like an actor falling away from a mask.

The mask is still there, but I fall away.

Into what?

Into a much bigger, entirely safe universe. Take your pick. Field. Lake. Mountain. Deserted village. Greek ruin. Walk around. I imagine myself literally walking. What is there? Sunshine? Shadows? Birds? Other figures? God?

The computer game is frozen.

You, the player, go for a breather.

Nothing I think is real is real.

What is real is what is obscured when I focus on the unreal.

So I freeze the unreal.

Pause.

Access the real.

Then resume with the unreal.
