Anonymity & the destruction of self

Tradition Twelve talks about the spiritual principle of anonymity.

How can I practise this?

Less self; more God.

Where does self manifest?

- Resentment
- Fear
- Selfishness
- Dishonesty

Make a list of:

- Resentment: People, institutions, and ideas you resent
- Fear: Things you're scared of
- Selfishness: Desires, demands, and expectations
- Dishonesty: Plans, schemes, and plots

Keep the list super simple. Words and phrases. No essays.

This is the HANDOVER LIST.

Each day, formally hand over these objects of resentment, fear, selfishness, and dishonesty to God. Mentally run through the list, imagining each flying up into the sky into God's hands.

Ask, in return, for a list of things to do today.

Write down the list.

Do the things on the list.

This is the TASK LIST.

Mentally quarantine everything on the HANDOVER LIST.

That means: no thinking about or talking about the items on the list.

Whenever anything intrudes into the mind from the HANDOVER LIST, say:

- All is well
- I am in God's hands

... and return to the task at hand.

No dwelling, ruminating, re-analysing, or other contemplation of the item.

Eliminate it from your consciousness.

... and return to the task at hand.
