- Consider what to say before raising my hand
- Aim to make one or two points well
- Be brief
- Be clear
- Be truthful
- Be accurate
- Proceed in a straight line
- Don't digress
- Don't self-comment
- Share on the programme not my life
- Use life examples for illustration only
- Ask: would a newcomer understand this?
- 'You can never be too basic'
- Avoid jargon
- Avoid in-jokes
- Be anonymous: don't boast or fawn
- Don't signal markers of wealth, success, or luck
- Don't moan, blame, or attack
- Keep it low key and undramatic
- Use sober language
- Play it down not up
- Less is more
