I didn't. How do I know? Because, even when it made me feel bad, I did it and carried on doing it.
A more accurate presentation is this:
- At one point alcohol made me feel great
- I then associated alcohol with feeling great
- I was then programmed to drink and drink buckets because of this association
- Even when the basis for the association was lost, I carried on
- I then associated alcohol with feeling great
- I was then programmed to drink and drink buckets because of this association
- Even when the basis for the association was lost, I carried on
I was therefore drinking not because of how it made me feel but because of my programming, and the programming was based on the association between alcohol and feeling good.
