Lighthouses

As Anne Lamott says, lighthouses don't run around the island looking for people to save; they just stand there shining.

By the same token, they don't sit at home watching Netflix or stay late in the office. They have to be on duty on the cliff.

Where's the cliff? Meetings; sitting next to people and talking to them; answering the phone; volunteering for public information opportunities.

Once I'm at the point of maximum service, I don't have to do anything but shine. But I need to get myself to that point.
