'Though we did not like their symptoms and the way these disturbed us, they, like ourselves, were sick too.' (Page 67, Big Book)
This is true, but the perception of sickness is a correction of the misperception of badness. It's like a red line through an incorrect answer. It's not the correct answer. The perception cancels out the misperception, but don't stay stuck on the perception. Perception presupposes separation: I'm over here, and you're over there, you're different than me, and I'm perceiving you. Good perception is better than bad perception but it does not join.
The perception that you're sick (spiritually unwell, spiritually disconnected, a lost soul, asleep) is true only within the plane of perception, but this plane is only a shadow cast by a disruption to reality, like shadow puppets created by hands blocking the light. The puppets tell a story but they're not really there. In this world of fragmentation, truth is shattered into pieces. I'm over here, and you're over there. We're still separate, and I'm still alone.
Once the correction has been made, let perception and misperception cancel each other out. Then upgrade to knowledge of truth by practising it. What's true? We're all one. We're good. We're fine. In reality, nothing has happened. We have never left God, and we have never left each other.
