Q: How do you get through early days?

Some advice I was given:

Go to strong AA meetings where they talk about the Twelve Steps. Make one of them your 'home group': that's where you commit to attending, come rain, come shine, and help out with the practical tasks of running the meeting.

Make friends from the home group and stay in close, daily touch with them. They'll be pleased to help.

When you're ready to commit to the programme, ask someone to sponsor you through the Twelve Steps.
Pick someone whose suggestions you have already found helpful.

Have a daily programme of AA actions: ask people in your home group what they do, and copy them. Ask them for tips on how to handle the immediate problems, whether practical or emotional.

Pray to a Higher Power of your own understanding, which could just be nature or goodness or love: this just means talking to the Higher Power and listening for the still, small voice inside.

All of these will get you on the road to recovery and relieve many of the difficult emotions along the way.
