Step Ten: Brutal refusal to engage in the 'subject matter' of what appears to be 'wrong'.
Step Eleven: Spend every free moment reading, listening, and watching spiritual materials (pick a tradition or approach and go with it) plus prayer and meditation. Approach it on the basis that you're wrong and you want a different way to look at things.
Step Twelve: Engage wholeheartedly in constructive activity in behalf of other people.
Do these until you feel the nightmare is over and the sun is shining. And only then do a quick inventory of character defects & ask God for corrective measures.
