Trusting one's sponsor

When I was new, although I had better experience of me than my sponsor, as I had been me longer than he had observed me, once I reported to him the pertinent facts, he had sufficient facts, and his experience of many hundreds or thousands of alcoholics rendered him more able to assess my situation effectively.

It's 27 years later. I have a sponsor. I report to him the pertinent facts, and I trust that his assessment of my situation is better than mine, because his experience of alcoholics is greater than mine. If mine were greater, I would have the wrong sponsor.
