What to do if you slip

A slip might involve alcohol. It might involve other behaviour. Or other mental aberrations:

The fear that won't go. The resentment that won't go. The grumpiness. The constant nitpicking.

A slip means a slip from the grace of God.

That means a slip into the hands of self (lower-case 's').

If it can happen once, it can happen again.

What does a person do?

Let go absolutely.

Of what?

Every thought and action.

Most thoughts are irrelevant. Most thoughts are not even thoughts ...

... they're physical brain chemistry taking lexical form.

They have nothing to do with mind.

Mind is certainly powerful. Which is why:

Thoughts that drive actions are certainly relevant.

Practically speaking, I recognise I cannot be trusted, which means my thoughts cannot be trusted.

Which means: what I think does not matter.

Yet I must act, in the meantime.

Until sanity is restored, follow good orderly direction. G-O-D.

Sanity can take a while to restore. We're not talking minutes, here, buddy. Or even weeks or months, necessarily.

If God is unavailable, and God is certainly intermittently unavailable if a slip has happened, then, fortunately, humans are available.

Find a smart, stable one who is not emotionally involved with you.

And does what he or she says.

It cannot be worse than what the mind that generated the slip has in store for you.

Watch out for the worst of all character defects.
