Jigsaw

“There I humbly offered myself to God, as I then understood Him, to do with me as He would.” (Page 13, Big Book)

If I’m a jigsaw puzzle piece, I know only my odd shape, not the picture visible from the outside.

The only way I find my place is if I do not resist the Puzzler’s placement of me where I’m needed.

It is no good wrapping up my belongings in a red handkerchief with white polka dots, attaching the parcel to the end of a stick, and setting off into the world, to find my Identity, my Purpose.

I merely need to be placed. The connections between me and other puzzle pieces are established by shape, not picture. The shapes have nothing to do with the picture. I will never see what the identity or purpose are. They are visible only from the outside and only from the point of view of the Puzzler.
