Just two things

“I will do at least two things I don’t want to do—just for exercise.” (Just for Today)

Sometimes those two things are ‘not drink’ and ‘not jump off a bridge’.

That’s the last resort but a good one:

One aspect of being human is that one simply cannot see beyond the end of one’s nose most of the time, and everything, on occasion, can look quite awful, hopeless, pointless.

Yet in those moments or on those days, one can do this: just for the sake of the exercise, keep going.

One soon discovers the folly of one’s despair in the Land of Cockaigne.
