I think what I really want is peace, and I can’t have peace and have anything else. Anything else is contingent and therefore at risk, and the risk destroys peace. There are lots of good things to which I’m adjacent, but I don’t have them.
I don’t need to worry about what is best for me: if I do what I think is God’s will, I’ll get what is best for me automatically.
