Party

“For when harboring such feelings we shut ourselves off from the sunlight of the Spirit. The insanity of alcohol returns and we drink again. And with us, to drink is to die.” (Page 66, Big Book)

Why does resentment cut me off from God?

Imagine God throws me a birthday party, and I say, “I don’t like any of the people you have invited.” I then pout, stamp my foot, complain, throw the cake at the walls, and refuse to play with the other children. I won’t have a very good time at the party, and I won’t have much of a relationship with the person who threw the party, because that’s who invited the other people.
