“All of us spend much of our spare time in the sort of effort which we are going to describe. A few are fortunate enough to be so situated that they can give nearly all their time to the work.” (Page 19, Big Book)
In other words, people who are working only part-time or who do not have a job because of retirement or unemployment are more fortunate than people who work full-time.
This means that God is looking after them more directly than those to whom the task is delegated to earn their living that very day.
If I’m short of paid work, I’m fortunate! God might well continue to direct me to find paid work or increase the volume of paid work I am performing, but I now trust that the time is being allocated to me to perform work for God rather than work for money.
