With a couple of people in my life who are eccentric, I adopted the policy decision: the reason they act the way they act, think the way they think, lies deep within, beyond their own ability to discern.
The ‘why’ of this is none of my business: I need note only the ‘that’, the fact of the behaviour.
And my job then is to take it into consideration and work around it tactfully.
