Scorn

“I have no right to scorn anyone, since I can never know what creates the need to behave as they do.” (ODAT, 23 April)

It’s pretty axiomatic that, if someone is doing something wrong, either they don’t know it or they know it and they can’t do anything about it.

Understanding what is going on in me and around me technically is helpful.

But the technical finding—as it were—mustn’t degenerate into scorn, of myself or others.
