Guilty as charged!

“First of all, we had to quit playing God.” (Page 62, Big Book)

Where does generalised guilt come from?

Playing god (small g).

To play god is to assume responsibility.

If I see mess in the world, and I’m god, I’m responsible for the mess.

That’s the root of generalised guilt.

If I charge myself with the responsibility of god, I will be guilty as charged for what I see in the world.
