“Things just wouldn’t go my way.” (ODAT, 30 March)
This is the complaint of the tiny asteroid in the solar
system to the effect that the planets are continuing in their elliptical orbits
around the sun rather than revolving around the asteroid.
Things simply cannot go my way.
My way is, by definition, unreasonable and unrealistic.
The real way ordained for me is usually the path of least
resistance, predicated on the starting point of accepting present reality as it
is without complaint or attempts to alter it.
From this starting point a constructive path opens up, often ironically resulting in positive change being brought about in my circumstances and conditions and even, sometimes, in the lives of people around me.
