“a better life ahead for us” (ODAT, 28 March)
It is the us-ness of the life ahead that makes it better.
I won’t have to do anything on my own, and, the longer a person is around, the more experience they have to share to help others.
One might not relish one’s personal future—after all, few are lucky enough to have a comfortable end, and the last years often present considerable challenges—but the prospect of all of this being turned to good account reverses the Othello tile from black to white.
Each day will be good as long as there are others in whose lives I can play the role that God ordains.
