Blame and power

“Now I am learning in Al-Anon to look squarely at each difficulty, not seeking whom to ‘blame' but to discover how my attitude helped to create my problem or aggravate it.” (ODAT, 18 March)

My life is a complex interactive network between me and others. Others are constantly playing cards into my hand, but the outcome of the game depends on how I play those cards, not on the cards themselves.

The law held me liable for my actions from the age of eighteen or so.

The law wasn’t wrong!

I’m well past the age I can point the finger.

Even at myself: I do not accuse, but I do analyse, see what’s wrong, and fix it.
