“When I learn to disentangle myself from a difficulty, it will be easier to think it through.” (ODAT, 28 February)
This means to remove my investment.
An investment in a situation is where I have decided that my happiness or wellbeing depends on what occurs within the situation.
Disentanglement might be practical. It might involve separating my finances, so my financial position is not dependent on someone else’s profligacy.
Disentanglement is also emotional: it is where I withdraw my dependence on others acting or thinking a particular way for me to be OK.
