Disappointments

“I will take disappointments as they come” (ODAT, February 6)

A disappointment is a realisation that some aspect of reality is not as I would wish.

The job is to immediately adjust to that by withdrawing my notion of what I wish.

Wishes are scorpions under the bed.

I take the disappointment and swallow it whole.

Then it is no longer there.

I have adjusted to reality.
