“to empty our minds of all thoughts but one: today and how to use it.” (ODAT, 28 October)
It’s taken a long time to realise it’s really OK to take the eye off the ball—all of the balls except one, in fact—and get on with what is in front of me.
This involves trusting God’s providence: that everything that is needed will be provided, that every problem has already been solved, and that, if God needs me to take a particular action to activate the solution He has in mind, I need do nothing but ask God what to do today, and, when the day comes to take that action, I’ll be told.
In other words, no rumination is required. Only asking.
