“face life as a responsible adult” (ODAT, 14 August)
With each situation, I should face it head on, saying to
God, ‘What shall I do about this?’ then get on with the day. God will then show
me. There is no need for me to hang around, concentrating on it.
If a matter is outside my purview, it requires no attention
from me.
In other words, either look at it head on and do something
about it or banish it from the consciousness.
Looking at it from out of the corner of my mind, quietly
fretting or brooding, going round in narrative circles, will not do. It is
neither facing the situation properly nor banishing it entirely. In such a
state, I’m aware of it enough for it to spoil my day but not enough to deal
with it constructively.
All or nothing!
