“Nor does it help to explore the reasons for the alcoholic’s behavior; certainly not while our own conduct shows we are not entirely rational. So, again, all change must begin with us.” (ODAT, 22 July)
It’s other people’s job to figure things out.
I don’t need to figure things out.
I don’t need to figure out why someone is the way that they are or why they do what they do.
I don’t need to figure out how others should change.
It is I who need to change.
And I cannot even change me.
I can take different actions, and these actions are my contribution to a process that changes me.
What actions?
The next right action, resting in God before, after, and during.
