Choice

“I am well aware how easy it is to make excuses for myself, and to blame my misfortunes on others, and particularly on the alcoholic.” (ODAT, 19 June)

Excuses: blaming the alcoholic, the other, the situation, for my emotions, my actions, my character defects.

Truth: I choose my beliefs, I choose my attitudes, I choose my behaviour.

Were these not taught?

Yes, but long ago.

Each day of persistence in those represents a daily choice not to change.

Stasis or deterioration is as much of a choice as change.
