Refuge and strength

“God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalms) (ODAT, 30 March)

God:

The place I run to, in order, rightly, to escape negative thoughts (the enemy) and lower concerns.

The strength to do what I should do.

The strength to not do what I should not do.

The strength to stop thinking about them, talking about them, and interfering with their lives.

Trouble: the turbulence I create in response to the alcoholic or other parlous situations.

Help: the ability to distinguish what can be changed from what cannot.

Present: here and now, the place God can be found, manifest in time and space.
