“If we accept a situation full of misery and uncertainty, it is no one’s fault but our own.” (ODAT, 26 March)
I don’t think I’ve ever succeeded straightening anything out. To a degree, I’ve learned to insulate myself in particular situations I really cannot remove myself from, through getting on with my business and not engaging with the craziness. That takes its toll, though, and it’s not satisfactory long-term. Almost all of the real change has taken place by living differently, going to different places, working in different places, living with different people, spending time with different people. I’ve got a lot quicker at just getting out if something isn’t right.
